Keeping lions is a good way to avoid boredom. If Alexander Lacey would ever feel bored, he could always find something to do around his lions, because the big cats like it clean. They don’t just groom themselves for hours a day, but want their living- and sleeping quarters kept spic and span, too. Hence a daily cleaning of the lions’ quarters is mandatory – and it’s Alexander Lacey himself who cares. With the pressure washer, he cleans the wagons, and with a shovel and a rake he works through the enclosures to remove the droppings of his cats. In addition, he needs to bring in fresh saw dust, clean grills and polish the water feeder – he who keeps lions will never be bored.
